Deaths that timely, effective healthcare should prevent
StableWhat it means: deaths before the age of 75 from conditions such as treatable cancers, heart disease, diabetes and infections, where good, timely care should usually prevent death. It is adjusted for the age of the population so years and countries can be compared, using the definition agreed by the OECD and Eurostat. It fell by about a third in the 2000s and has barely changed since the early 2010s. The solid line is all people; the fainter lines are women (solid) and men (dotted). A change of 2 or more per 100,000 on the year before counts.
