Where adults have used AI
What it means: adults who say they have knowingly used AI, such as chatbots, writing tools or AI features in apps, in the past year. Many people use AI without realising, so this is likely to undercount. For businesses, “using AI” means at least one AI technology in any part of the business; most users apply it to a few tasks rather than across their work, which is why the share using it extensively is a better guide to how much it is used. The most common business uses are text tools based on large language models and image creation. The business figures are rounded as ONS published them. Shown for context.
